Derry companies had tremendous success with the Creative Industries Innovation Fund over the Summer with well over a dozen projects being funded with up to £10k (each) in grant funding. The great news is that CIIF is back and open for applications again between now and Thursday, Feb 23rd.

Once again applications are welcomed from businesses and individuals for innovative new projects and you can apply for up to £10k. There are a few differences though. Firstly, any creative industries project is eligible. Secondly, existing staff salaries are eligible. Decisions will be made by May and projects must be completed by the end of March 2013.

 So who should (probably) apply?

  • Anyone with an innovative creative industries project
  • People who were awarded CIIF grants over the Summer (provided you can demonstrate that you’ve delivered “tangible outcomes and achievements to date”
  • Anyone applying to the Culture Tech Fund
  • Sectoral bodies working in the creative industries
  • Anyone interested in doing something as part of the City of Culture celebrations

Book yourself into the workshop which takes place in Magazine Studios on January 31st.

The organisers of a major business exhibition wish to invite the Northern Ireland small business community along to a ‘meet the franchisors’ networking breakfast, to be held:

Friday November 11th at the Millennium Forum, Derry/Londonderry 9.45am for a 10.00am start

Complimentary Refreshments served plus official show launch

The exhibition features over 30 franchise and business opportunities, all of whom have a Northern Ireland licence available and are hoping to soon set up business in the region. Organiser Mark Monument explains:

Clearly, the main aim of the expo is to find locals who wish start their own business. But the expo is a great networking event for existing local businesses owners to find, meet & network with dozens of prospective new franchised companies that might well be setting up in Northern Ireland over the immediate few weeks & months. If members of the NI small business community have services & products that can help the franchisors settle in and set up base here, we’d welcome them to join in for the networking launch
